چکیده

Noise-induced transition in the solutions of the Kuramoto–Sivashinsky (K–S) equation is investigated using the minimum action method derived from the large deviation theory. This is then used as a starting point for exploring the configuration space of the K–S equation. The particular example considered here is the transition between a stable fixed point and a stable travelling wave. Five saddle points, up to constants due to translational invariance, are identified based on the information given by the minimum action path. Heteroclinic orbits between the saddle points are identified. Relations between noise-induced transitions and the saddle points are examined. Exact Solutions of the Generalized Kuramoto-Sivashinsky Equation

In this paper we obtain  exact solutions of the generalized Kuramoto-Sivashinsky equation, which describes manyphysical processes in motion of turbulence and other unstable process systems.    The methods used  to determine the exact solutions of the underlying equation are the Lie group analysis  and the simplest equation method. The solutions obtained are  then plotted.

Minimum-action paths for wave-number selection in nonequilibrium systems.

The problem of wave-number selections in nonequilibrium pattern-forming systems in the presence of noise is investigated. The minimum-action method is proposed to study the noise-induced transitions between the different spatiotemporal states by generalizing the traditional theory previously applied in low-dimensional dynamical systems. The scheme is shown as an example in the stabilized Kuramo...

Hopping Behavior and Effects of Noise in Cellular Pattern-Forming Systems

We study the effects of multiplicative noise on a spatio-temporal pattern forming nonlinear Partial Differential Equation (PDE) model for premixed flame instability, known as the Kuramoto-Sivashinsky equation, in a circular domain. Modifications of a previously developed numerical integration scheme allow for longer time integration in the presence of noise. In order to gain additional insight,...
